Quando estenderdes as vossas mãos, esconderei de vós os meus olhos; e ainda que multipliqueis as vossas orações, não as ouvirei; porque as vossas mãos estão cheias de sangue.
Lavai-vos, purificai-vos, tirai a maldade de vossos atos de diante dos meus olhos; cessai de fazer o mal. aprendei a fazer o bem; buscai a justiça, acabai com a opressão, fazei justiça ao órfão, defendei a causa da viúva.
Vinde, pois, e arrazoemos, diz o Senhor: ainda que os vossos pecados são como a escarlata, eles se tornarão brancos como a neve; ainda que são vermelhos como o carmesim, tornar-se-ão como a lã.

And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

"Sabe, porém, isto: nos últimos dias, sobrevirão tempos difíceis, pois os homens serão amantes de si mesmos, gananciosos, presunçosos, soberbos, blasfemos, desobedientes a seus pais, ingratos, ímpios, irreverentes, sem afeição natural, implacáveis, caluniadores, sem domínio de si, cruéis, inimigos do bem, traidores, atrevidos, orgulhosos, mais amigos dos deleites do que amigos de Deus, tendo aparência de piedade, mas negando-lhe o poder. Desses, afasta- te também."

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."

"Vá a este povo e diga: Ainda que estejam sempre ouvindo, vocês nunca entenderão; ainda que estejam vendo, jamais perceberão. Pois o coração deste povo se tornou insensível; de má vontade ouviram com os seus ouvidos, e fecharam os seus olhos. Se assim não fosse, poderiam ver com os olhos, ouvir com os ouvidos, entender com o coração e converter-se e eu os curaria."
